Laws of Life (3)

We continue again today on our series on Laws of Life. It is my hope that as we begin to apply these principles in our lives, we will begin to experience positive changes.

7. Law of Focus: This law emphasizes the importance of directing one’s energy and passion at a single task or goal per time. If you focus the sun on a piece of paper with a lens, after one or two minutes, that point on the paper will start burning. The speed at which this will happen depends on the intensity of the sun, how powerful the lens is and the thickness of the paper. This simple illustration can be applied to any task or dream we set out to achieve. The sun represents your energy, skills, resources and passion, while the lens represent your mind (undivided attention) and the paper is the task at hand. If you direct all your energy and resources with a focused mind on any task, you will easily and quickly accomplish the task better than if you have divided attention. Have you been finding any task difficult? Try the law of Focus and you will surely accomplish the task.

8. Law of Replacement: This law stresses the need for continuous replacement or replenishment of resources, either of the mind or body. You must regularly create time for your mind and body to be renewed through the process of rest, relaxation, exercise and meditation. The body is like a container holding the mind, no matter how sharp your mind is, it needs the body to execute its thoughts, and the body has a limitation, it ages. You can however reduce the aging process through constant rest, retreat, and exercise. Sleep at least 6 hours every night, no matter how busy you are. The mind also loses its sharpness if not exercised and well rested. Create periodic time of retreat where you can do nothing but meditate and refresh your mind. Fill your mind with the Words of God, positive and inspiring messages. Exercise your heart through regular exercise. Many people are dropping dead everyday due to accumulated stress and tiredness of the heart. Don’t be a victim, apply the law of replacement.

Till tomorrow.

God bless us all.

Laws of Life (2)

We began this series yesterday with the first four laws and here are a few more laws that will smoothen your journey through life.

5. Law of the Supernatural: This law affirms that what happens in the natural is determined in the Supernatural. The natural is the physical world while the supernatural is the spiritual world. While some people do not believe in the existence of the supernatural, it really does exist and controls the natural as well. You only ignore the supernatural at your own peril. You must take your position in the supernatural to earn it in the natural. You cannot be in charge in the natural if you have been discharged in the supernatural. Man is a triune being with a spirit, soul and body. Your spirit relates with the Supernatural (or the spirit realm) and conveys messages from the supernatural to the natural via your soul and body. You must therefore equip your spirit man to be able to function well in the spirit realm. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Ephesians 6:11-12.

Law of Association: This law presupposes that you are the average or mean of the collection of people you associate with. If most of your associates are bright and intelligent, you will be bright and vice-versa. So whatever you desire to become in life, associate with people who have achieved more than your dream and you will find the right support for your dream. Proverbs 13:20. Your association must be carefully selected. A sheep that walks with the dog will eventually eat dungs. A dog that grew up with a lion will behave like a lion. Watch your association.

We will continue with the laws tomorrow.

God bless us all.

When God Pauses Your Life

Left to man alone, there would be so much chaos and disorder in the world. Unchecked inventions and ingenuity of man can lead to wicked and evil machinations among men and nations. The discovery and invention of nuclear weapons brought with it destruction and threats to humanity. Hiroshima is a pungent reminder of this fact. At certain times, God intervenes directly in the affairs of men to prevent disorder and unnecessary destruction.

In the same vein, God intervenes in the life of specific persons and press ‘Pause’  button when the person involved is  going out of order, about embarking on a journey he cannot end, or unprepared for a task he is about starting or jumping ahead of God’s plan. God can pause your life and put you ‘on a spot’. He paused Moses’s life and kept him at the back of the wilderness for forty years. He saw that Moses was unprepared for the task of liberating Israel from Egypt. Anger and pride were still in him. The timing too wasn’t fully ripe for their redemption. So he paused his life and took him from the palace to shepherding Jethro’s sheep.

Maybe you are in a situation you don’t understand and you are wondering what is happening. Suddenly you seem to have been thrown into obscurity. You are no longer as relevant as you used to be. You have suddenly lost favour where you once used to be celebrated. This could be the act of God. He may be checking your speed, attitude, character, or true motive. Maybe God has paused your life.

The good news is that when God pauses your life, it is for your own good and you will be a better person when the period is over. So don’t be disturbed, rather cooperate with God and learn all He wants you to learn during the period. It is not a permanent condition, it is only a period of hibernation and when He is through with you, you will be a better instrument in His hands.

Relax friend, it is just a ‘pause’ not a ‘stop’. You will come out stronger, better and sharper. Remember, being on a spot is different from being in a spot.

God bless us all.

Motive Matters

What drives your actions? What fuels your passion? What is the main reason behind that vision, pet-project, volunteer work, or NGO? You must understand that the motive behind a cause is more important than the cause itself, especially so, in the sight of God. Yes, being involved in great causes is good but the motive must be right for you to be acknowledged by God and men.

Every God given vision has a primary purpose, to bring the kingdom of God to men and ultimately make our stay here ‘a heaven on earth’ experience. When God therefore gives you vision or assignment, your motive should derive from the love of God and mankind. It must not be done out of self aggrandizement. Be careful not to be carried away with the praise as to begin to arrogate all the Glory to yourself. Acknowledge Him who made it possible. Remember your foundation. Also remember the story of Nebuchadnezzar.
No matter what you have achieved or become today, it happened because God made it happened, so appreciate God. Beyond appreciate God, let your real motive be for the service of humanity. We are all servants of God in our different functions and capacities. If what you are doing is not adding positive values to humanity, then you are not serving God. You are serving yourself and the devil. Examine your true motives today and make amends where necessary.

Let your true motive be to serve humanity thereby bringing the kingdom of God to men.

God bless us all.

Change of Guards

In palaces, government buildings and State Houses, the guards or soldiers protecting these places are changed at certain times of the day. This process is called ‘Change of Guards.’ For instance, in Buckingham Palace, change of guards happens everyday and the public is often allowed to witness this event. Change of Guards takes place for several reasons, some of which are, one to prevent compromise by any of the guards. Two, to allow the guards to rest and sharpen their senses before taking over guards position. Three, to allow them perform other functions.

The main function of the guards is to protect the principal officers within the building from external aggression. Similarly, we have guards in our lives and God also carries out Change of Guards from time to time in our lives. The problem is that we often do not recognize the new guards or we keep drawing back the old guards.

Who are these guards? They could be mentors, friends, spiritual leaders, parents, and partners. God positions such people around your life to guide you towards the fulfillment of destiny, and to help you from making costly mistakes. Now, they are assigned by God for a reason and a season, once both reason and season have been fulfilled, God reassigns them to another destiny or purpose, this is the period of ‘Change of Guard’ for both the old ‘purpose’ and the new ‘purpose’. Please understand that you are a purpose and the earlier you find your purpose, the better for everyone.

Where we often run into problems is when we try to hold on to the old guard and refuse to acknowledge the new guard. At such times, we are open to attacks and errors. We must sharpen our spirit man to be able to discern ‘Change of Guards’ seasons. We are not to initiate ‘Change of Guards’ process by deliberately ignoring our guides, mentors, or leaders. Usually events trigger the process and if we are sensitive, we will know it is time to move on. An example was John the Baptist. At some point, his followers were worried that Jesus was getting more attention than him. He told them ‘He must increase and I must decrease’ – John 3:30. In other words, he was pointing his followers to the new guard (Jesus) in their life.

May you be more sensitive to the ‘Change of Guards’ seasons in your life. Insensitivity to Change of Guards can disrupt God’s plan for your life.

God bless us all.

Build With Your Words

Words are powerful. Every spoken word has within it the power to bring it to reality. Just as the Word became flesh in the beginning, so does every word we speak,  eventually they become reality. John 1:14. “Because even the smallest of words can be the ones to hurt you, or save you.”  –  Natsuki Takaya

Where you are today could be a product of your past utterances. If you keep spilling out negativities about your life, it will only create negative energy around you and drag you down. If you release positive words around you, that is what will manifest in your life. Don’t be deceived, and let no science or logic deceive you, our world is more spiritual than physical. The words you speak are spirits. Where you find people always saying, ‘Yes we can’, you will always find great accomplishments. And where you have people always confessing their inabilities, they won’t have much to show.

Particularly, in our nation today, if there is anything we need more than ever, it is positive confession about our dear country. Yes, in reality, we may have an unpleasant situation, but let us use the power of our words to strengthen the hands of our leaders and bring the nation out of the present situation. Individually, let us avoid negative words about ourselves or others or the nation or even the world. Let us saturate the atmosphere with positive energy with our words. Our words can shape our world, either positively or negatively. We are the architects of our life, and it starts with our words.

As you wake up every morning, release blessings upon your life, neighborhood and the nation. Send your words on errand. As you speak in the ears of the Almighty, so will He do. Numbers 14 :28. Yours words are spirits and they are alive. Don’t toy around with negative words again!

God bless us all.

Do Not Despair

Life is in seasons. Your season will come. There is daytime and nighttime in every life. Your day is breaking now. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5. Your joy cometh and it is nigh. No condition is permanent. Don’t give up on yourself. Even when men says it is over, it is just the beginning for God. No man has the final say on your life, only God’s word is the finality on that matter. You will not be put to shame. You will not die in that condition. His everlasting arms are under and over your life, so you cannot fall. Deuteronomy 33:27. He can’t fail you because His promises are Yea and AMEN. 2 Cor. 1:18

Regardless of the state of the economy, God’s economy does not witness austerity. As a child of God, our economy is tied to heaven’s economy. No matter the price of fuel or tomatoes, you will not suffer in Jesus name. Even when there is turbulence and shake up in your place of work, it will turn out for your good. When men are cast down, you will testify that there is lifting up. Job 22:29. Stay on God and you will not be put to shame. Psalm 34:5.

As our nation goes through its seed season (we must understand the season, we are in), it is important that you also sow your own seed. More than ever before, this is the time to build. This is the time to start that business. This is the time to start that program. Adversity brings opportunities. This is the time to sit down and identify the opportunities in the ‘economic downturn’. Don’t wait till things get better. Go for it now. Don’t be part of the complainants, be part of the solution providers. If you faint in the days of adversity, your strength is little. Proverbs 24:10. Generals are made from battles not during peacetime.

This is your season! This is your divine moment! Seize it!

God bless us all.

The Sanctity of Human Life

There is so much respect and honour placed on man by God. He even honors us above angels, such that we will judge angels eventually. 1 Cor. 6:3. He created men and placed all his other creatures under the control of men. Psalm 8:5-6. This glory and honor on man is borne out of the fact that, out of everything God created, it is only man that was created in His image. So we are God’s exact image.

Little wonder, God commanded in Exodus 20:13 ‘Thou shalt not kill’. This is one of the ten commandments. God hates the shedding of human blood. As much as God required blood sacrifice in the old testament, the only time he requested for human sacrifice was in the case of Isaac, and it was a test for Abraham. As soon as He was convinced of Abraham’s obedience, He provided a replacement in the form of a ram. God despised shedding of blood and wherever human blood is shed, the land in such place becomes cursed because the voice of the victim will be crying out to God for vengeance . Gen 4:11-12. The one and only human sacrifice made by God Himself is Jesus Christ and this sacrifice suffices for the atonement of the sins of any man.

All over the world today, there is a movement against capital punishment. Almost all the members of the United Nations have signed on to the treaty to end capital punishment. Amnesty International has been in the forefront of the campaign against capital punishment since 1977. It is abhorred even in the countries with the highest crime rate. Apart from Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and a few other countries, nowhere in the world is a convicted criminal killed again, at worst, such convict will be sentenced to life imprisonment. The reason for this is because every man has a right to change or repent. When you kill that man, you deny him the right to repent or live a new life.

It is therefore worrisome that we openly disrespect sanctity of life in Nigeria. We kill under every reasonable and unreasonable excuses. We stone people we label ‘witches’ to death. A young boy of less than 5 years old was abandoned somewhere in Southern part of Nigeria to die because he was perceived as a wizard. Thank God for an angel in the person of a white woman that saved the poor chap. We find it so easy to set ‘armed robbers’ ablaze in the most cruel manner. The ‘ALUU Four’ still rings in our memories. Our security agents are quick to kill the people they are meant to defend and then hide under accidental discharge. Not to mention the bloodshed through kidnapping and ritual sacrifices. Bloodshed through terrorism. Bloodshed through the traps set on our roads in form of man made ditches.

No wonder our nation is struggling. Nothing seems to be working. Because there are too many voices crying for vengeance over the nation Nigeria. Unless we repent and turn from this wicked way, we may be on the path of destruction like Sodom and Gomorrah. Don’t ever encourage jungle justice, you are as guilty as those who partake by watching them. Enough of blood spillage in our land. If Oil Spillage could hurt nature, how much more blood spillage.

God help us all.

You Are Complete in Him

“And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of principality and power.” Colossians 2:10

We are often tempted to believe we suffer one inadequacy or the other. We tend to believe we would have been better off with a lighter color, a more evenly spread set of teeth, a few more inches taller, a few more pounds lighter, a straighter leg, and so on. We even sometimes query God why he left out that part, as if He is not wise enough to know what is good for us. Sometimes it is not a physical feature but a physiological one, like not being able to speak as fast as someone else, not being able to laugh with ease like another person, and so on.

It is important to understand that, you were formed by a perfect God. He doesn’t make mistakes and all his creations are without blemish. What you consider as a shortcoming is not unnoticed by God. He knows it and can use it to your advantage. He created you as a complete being. Perfect and having everything you require to succeed in life. The problem with us is that we try to find our completeness outside of Him, and that is anti-nature. You can only find your completeness in Him. When you live your life in Him and through Him, you will never have reason to feel incomplete.

So the question is not, ‘why didn’t He create that part of the body the way you want it?’. The question is ‘why are you seeking completeness outside of Him?’. If you stay in Him, you will appreciate how He has created you and He will also bring the right persons, who will appreciate you just as you are, into your life.

Our frustrations are borne out of self dependence rather than God dependence. This is the reason why people take drugs to get high because they feel incomplete without taking those hard substances. It is also why some women undergo dangerous surgeries to increase certain parts of their bodies. Is God that insensitive to have created you that way? Definitely not. It is equally the reason we seek for affirmation by joining cult, so that we can feel powerful (while on the inside we are really jellylike). It is the reason for several hurtful things men do to themselves. Stop hurting yourself. Stop allowing others to hurt you. Find your completeness in Him.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:14

Stop trying to complete what God has completed. You are complete in Him.

God bless us all.

Just Before It Gets Dark

As there are twenty four hours in a day and each day ends with the night, our lives have been timed by the Almighty. Whether we like it or not, there is a night time for everyone of us. It will surely get dark for all of us. A time will come for you and I when all abilities to work would cease. Little wonder Jesus said in John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work.” Your night time will surely come. For some, it is very close while for some it is still far. The difficult thing is nobody knows his or her night time. It may come earlier than you think and it may come later than you think.

Whether it comes earlier or later, the question is ‘Are you prepared?’ Another crucial question is “Whose works are you doing?” The work of Him who sent you or the work the world has given to you? What kind of works are you doing? How will those works speak for you when it finally gets dark for you? Will your works speak well or speak ill of you? What will be said of you when you are gone? Who will stand for you? Can your spouse or children even stand for you after you have gone? The world practically stood still for Nelson Mandela when it got dark for him? Will your immediate neighborhood stand still for you?

Above all, while it is good to strive to make the world stand still for you, it is also important that you do the kind of works that will make heaven stand for you? Heaven is real. Hell is real. Don’t take those two places for granted. Run to Jesus before it gets dark for you. Acts 4:12. After all said and done, it is your work here on earth that will determine where you will spend your eternity. So, just before it gets dark, whose works are you doing?

God bless us all.
