Demand Will Be Placed On You

At every stage of your life, certain seasons will come when your true weight and your real worth will be tested. Demand will be placed on you to show what you are made of. Your value will be put to test. It is called the Test of Value or Worth.
You therefore need to keep equipping yourself for your next level. Learn. Study. Ask questions. Package yourself. Find out what is required for that next stage you are eyeing. Stay ahead of current developments in your chosen field. Don’t become outdated. No matter what you know, it will become stale if you don’t improve on it.
If you scale the hurdle of test of value, you will be promoted to a new level with vast opportunities and of course challenges, but don’t become too comfortable on the new level such that you stop preparing for the next new level. Sometimes you cannot meet tomorrow’s challenge with today’s knowledge.
Stay prepared because a demand will be placed on you.
God bless us all.
Good afternoon!

I Will Die At My Post

The gallant late Lt. Col. Abu-Ali who led the Nigerian troops against the Boko Haram rebels was said to have told his colleagues to do 5% of the job while he will do the remaining 95% with an Armoured Tank. He was such a consummate soldier to the extent that he told his colleagues to take care of themselves at the battlefield and if anyone should die, it has to be him. Indeed he fought and gave his life for the freedom of citizens of the nation. May His Gallant Soul Rest in Peace. Amen.
Yesterday, in church as we were singing the hymns, one line caught my attention and brought Late Lt. Col. Abu-Ali to my memory. The line says, ‘I will be a true soldier, I will die at my post.’ Just as Lt. Col. Abu-Ali died at his post, everyone who will fulfil purpose must be ready to die at his duty post. If you have not found that calling that consumes your entire being to the point of being ready to give your life if necessary, you are yet to start living. He that seeks to save his life will lose it.
People who leave indelible marks in the sands of time are usually people who find their true calling and give their all to the calling. They don’t retire from their calling, they fight until they sleep in rest. Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Muhammed Ali, Martin Luther King, name them, they gave it their all until their last breath. Do you want to be registered in the Hall of Fame of posterity?
So as I joined in singing the hymn yesterday, I renewed my vow to stay at my duty post until I finish my earthly race. I will keep saying the truth, preaching and teaching the truth both in words and actions, speaking and writing against injustice, wickedness, unrighteousness and the ills in our society. I will do this using every legal means possible and with every ounce of blood in me. I will not be cowed or intimated by the persons involved and will remain true to my conscience and my Maker, so help me God.
I, Adewumi Oni will be a true soldier and I will die at my post. How about you? Have you found your post, let alone dying at your post?
God bless us all.
Good morning!

The Future is a Product of Today

Whenever the seed of any plant is planted, it dies first. It dies and opens up for another life to come forth. It brings forth another life after its own kind. Without planting the seed, there can’t be a new life. The new plant that comes from the seed usually produces multiples of seed and then the cycle is repeated over and over again. Anytime plant ceases to grow, it is because the gardener has stopped planting seeds or something is wrong with the seed or soil.
When you begin to experience drought in your personal life, it may be an indication that you have stopped seeding or you are planting poor seed or on a bad soil. Anytime a country is undergoing recession as we currently are, it is an indication of not planting enough to generate the harvest that will more than meet the needs of its citizens.
In your personal life, you must keep planting seeds. Your seeds may be in form of investment, studying more, improving your skills, learning new skills, helping others, etc. Harvest is not automatic, it is the end result of seeding.
What seeds are you planting today? You have no right to demand from your future what you have not planted into your today. The future belongs to those who nurture the seeds of their today. Seed well today and the future is yours.

Dare to be Different

In a world where conformity seems to be the order, where joining them if you can’t beat them has become the norm, non-conformers and men of integrity are becoming rarer by the day. Truth is becoming an endangered virtue. Our values have been mortgaged on the altar of ‘get rich quick’ syndromes.
In the midst of all these, God is still looking out for those who will dare to be different, who will confront and challenge the corrupt system, who will continue to speak the truth no matter whose ox will be gored. He is searching to and fro the earth to find those on behalf of whom He will show Himself strong.
You don’t have to conform. Don’t be afraid of being a lone voice, heaven is backing you up. Don’t give in to the pressure of joining the corrupt system, both time and eternity will reward your steadfastness. The riches and wealth the world is pursuing in a wrong way,  are being reserved to be transferred to you if you stand fast.
Three things will speak for everyone of us, whether we are conformers or non-conformers. One, our works will speak for us, our works will either bless us or bring curses on us. Two, our names which are founded on our works will continue to speak for us long after we are gone. Three, cloud of witnesses in heaven will speak for us, either in praise or condemnation.

So while you are at that work, ponder on these three things and dare to be different.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

From the ‘Step Out of the Confines of Comfort’ Seminar (2)

Another lesson from the seminar is the need to stop paying attention to people’s opinion, especially when it has to do with your vision. If you are the type who always wants to get people’s approval on anything you do, you are likely to remain confined in your comfort zone.
You must adopt the Eagle’s Mentality. Eagles fly alone, they don’t fly with other birds. You must fly with people with similar dream or vision. You can’t go far if you keep sparrows and other birds around you. Fly with eagles.
Eagles also fly to high altitudes, which enables them to see far. When they set their sight on a prey, they focus intensely on the prey until they catch it. You must be able to separate yourself from the crowd and distractions from time to time in order to sharpen your focus.
People will want you to conform and stay within your confines, (the things or positions they have known you with), if you don’t adopt the Eagle’s Mentality, you will constantly be dragged back.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

From the ‘Step Out Of The Confines Of Comfort’  Seminar

The much talked about ‘Step Out of the Confines of Comfort’ seminar took place on Saturday 22nd and it was an eye opener. We had a wonderful time this last Saturday as we learnt on the need to push for more, ask questions and dare our fears.
One of the lessons we shared was about  the lives of soldiers. Their lives are spent mostly in the barracks, training fields or battlefields. Among these three places, the place where things really happen is on the battle field. This is where they possess new territories and gain new grounds. They are at their best on the battlefield. Their sense of alertness is hypersensitive on the battlefield, because it is a matter of life and death, survive or die, win or lose, on the battlefield.

Meanwhile in the barracks, the same toughminded fighters on the battlefield become soft, jocular, backslapping and even careless, sometimes sleeping without any care for external aggression.
Your Confines Of Comfort are like the barracks. You are relaxed and your guards are down within your Confines of Comfort. You don’t think beyond the four walls of your world (the box). Unfortunately, until you step out of that box, you can’t win new frontiers or make new discoveries. You can’t see beyond your world as long as you remain confined to your world.
This is why you must never settle within your Confines Of Comfort. You must keep moving. You must keep breaking new grounds and possessing new territories.
This is especially moreso for the black race, we have become used to waiting for the white race to produce everything for us. We are comfortable using our hard earned local currencies to purchase foreign currencies to pay for the produce of the western world, mostly produced with materials obtained from our backyards! So saddening and painful! Our generation must not recycle this same mentality, we must be the game changer.
It is time to get out of the rut of Comfort and take our place in destiny. It is time for you to produce your product. It is discovery time!
God bless us all.
Good morning!

The D-Day is Here!

We are breaking out of all limitations and pleasures that have been holding us back.
We are pressing into new frontiers. We are breaking barriers and raising bars.
It is happening today at the ‘Step Out of the Confines of Comfort’ seminar.
See you at the venue by 10am. Gatecrashers will receive mercy.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

Door Openers (3)

Integrity plus skilfulness will take you to the upper class of the best of the best. However from experience, people hardly develop skills in what they don’t have passion for. This is where the third door opener comes in.

3. Passion is a necessary ingredient for attracting positive recommendations. See a man diligent in his business, he will stand before Kings and not before mean men. Proverbs 22:29. You can’t be diligent at what you don’t like, it is just not possible. You will find it boring, burdensome and dreary. It is thus important that you do what you love. When you do what you love, your work ceases to be a job and becomes an art. All over the world, men seek for people with integrity, skilfulness and passion. Your passion for it drives you to seek for excellence, which is the fourth point.
4. Excellence is a state of flawlessness. When you score 100% in an exam you will be graded as excellent. You can become excellent at what you do when it is what you are passionate about. When you make excellence your hallmark in what you do, you will necessarily attract positive attention. Doors will begin to open to you of their own accord.
Be a man of integrity. Become skilful at what you do. Do what brings out passion in you. Make excellence your hallmark.
As you do this, doors will begin to open for you.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

Door Openers (2)

We discussed integrity yesterday and I need to add this. Integrity speaks across borders, races and languages. It is also often given priority above skills or qualifications. Skills can be transferred to you, but not integrity, it is a product of your thought patterns, values and choices. This is why sometimes less skilful person but with integrity is chosen among more qualified candidates.
2. Another door opener is your skill. Your ability to do something better than others is a great door opener. Why do organizations headhunt as against just throwing vacancies in the open? They do so because they want to choose among the skilled ones. You must therefore sharpen and hone your skills. Be the best at what you do. Don’t settle for average. Average is the greatest enemy of success. It keeps you below your potentials. Learn more about what you do. Study. Ask questions. Read.
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

Be so good at what you do such that when a need for your skill arises anywhere, you will be the preferred.
When you are dexterous and also have integrity, you have taken yourself beyond the crowds and risen to the class of champions, which is usually less than  5% of the entire population. Where would you rather belong?
God bless us all.
Good morning!
See you this Saturday at the ‘Step Out of the Confines of Comfort’ seminar. 👍

Clarity Saves Time and Efforts

I had an experience this last Saturday that reemphasised the importance of clarity of purpose or vision.
I was invited to a meeting in the house of one of my former bosses whom I greatly like and respect,  and who has also become an elder brother to me. Each time I went to his house in the past, my return journey was always fraught with difficulty because I always missed my way back. I always ended up burning fuel and losing time on the road trying to find my way.
But this last visit, I was lucky to have another party in the meeting who was heading my direction. So I told him I would be driving behind him till he gets to his own junction, which is a familiar route for me. When we finished the meeting and set out, I was amazed with the speed at which I arrived at the familiar environment because he was leading the way.
I spent about one and half hours as against the usual two and half hours I would have spent if I had driven alone. My journey was made faster because I had a guide. Here are a few lessons from this experience :
1. Get a mentor or guide: One, always ask for direction or counsel on your vision. There may be people who have travelled same path before and learning from them will make your journey easier and faster, as they will tell you where to avoid.
2. Get the right mentor or guide: Only ask from those who know the way or who have experienced what you want to embark one. My journey on Saturday might have been worse if my guide was only pretending to know the way.
3. Be clear about your vision: When  you know where you are going, your journey becomes faster. My guide made me drive as if I knew the right, so I was sure footed and I drove past the unfamiliar areas easily and quickly. Clarity saves you time and efforts, thus giving you speed.
4. Be humble to take advice:I followed my guide doggedly until he turned at his own junction. Sometimes we need to shelf our own idea and listen to others in order to move on. Don’t be too proud to take advice.
I trust that these few lessons will help some of us who are about taking some decisions or are encountering challenges in some areas of our lives.
God bless us all.
