Don’t Cast Your Pearls to Dogs

No matter how nice you are to some people, they will never be nice to you. Some relationships are just not worth it and will never be worth it. Some just can’t place value on anything valuable, and will always abuse what others would pay premium to have. Except for marriage relationships that might need counselling, prayers and working out, any other relationship in which one party suffers abuse, should not be tolerated.
Don’t give your valuable resources to people who don’t know your value. Not all that glitters is gold. Some only carry face value, beyond the make-up, they are empty. Some are just opportunists, they only surface when the going gets good. Some are plain parasites, always asking and never giving. Get rid of them. Stop wasting your time and resources on such people. Some assume you will always be there and take you for granted, move away from them, let them appreciate your absence.
Be wise in dealing with people. Don’t assume about the other person, check him out before committing to him. The rule of thumb is Check/Test before Committing. Be guided.
Stay blessed and happy night rest.

Keeping Your Eyes on the Mark

We often lose sight of our main dream while in pursuit of the milestones in between. We get carried away with the attractions by the way side and shift our gaze from the ultimate goal. For instance, many people have forgotten their talents and they are lost in the corporate world. Some have sacrificed their dreams on the altar of attractive and juicy job offerings.
This is a trap we all so easily fall into and we must do all we can to keep our gaze and focus on our dream. Nothing wrong in white collar jobs and aiming to build a career in your profession. However it will amount to a waste of time and heaven’s resources if you ignore your dream, talent and purpose in pursuit of building a career. If you can make a career of your dream or purpose, you would have achieved what only a few dare to attain.
Here are some guides to keeping your focus on your dream:

1. Set targets and time lines for yourself. If you are employed and your job is not along your dream or purpose, then it is important that you set targets of when to quit and pursue your dreams. You can equally set things to achieve within the set time.
2. Have a mentor and submit yourself for evaluation from time to time. Discuss your dreams with your mentor and be guided on how to manage your time better.
3. Try and fuse your dream into your job. When passion mix with job, then your job becomes pleasurable. Find a way of bringing your passion into your job or business.
These guides will help to prevent you from losing focus and forgetting what you set out to do.
Stay blessed and great day ahead!

In Spite of Your Imperfections

Some people don’t reach their full potentials because they are over conscious of their imperfections. You should be conscious of your imperfections and keep working on improving them, but you shouldn’t become so worked up with your imperfections to the extent that you forget your strengths. You should take full advantage of your strengths and use it to downplay your weaknesses.
As a matter of fact, great people are not without their weaknesses, but they ride on their strengths and move on to achieve greatness.
It is also important to know that God uses more of the imperfect to show His awesomeness. 1 Cor. 1:27 says “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”
Therefore, in spite of your weaknesses or Imperfections, God can still use you.  You can still achieve GREATNESS. You can still reach your potentials. Use your strengths more and worry less about your short comings.
Richard Branson suffered from dyslexia as a child. Moses in the Bible was a stammerer. Don’t let your weaknesses become an excuse for not achieving greatness. Get going!
Good morning and Stay blessed.

Do You Want to be Relevant (3)

As we conclude on this series today, as a way of recap, we have discussed the following as ingredients of relevance:

1. Honing your skills

2. Good interpersonal relationships skill

3. Right Attitude

4. Problem solving ability

5. Rich network
The last two ingredients are :

Extra Mileage disposition

Ability to recognise your limit
Extra Mileage disposition: While you are encouraged to master your field very well, it is important to have working knowledge of other fields. Most employers want well rounded employees, not single tracked employees. You therefore need to read and learn about other fields connected to your job. It makes you command premium attention and value. Also have the attitude of persisting more than others. Stay alert when others get tired.
Ability to recognise your limits: Sometimes you will be called to work in a committee where you are the most junior. Don’t state believing or acting as if  you are equal with the other committee members. Pay them their respect, know your limit. This will endear you to the hearts of your superiors and they will feel safe to ask for your opinion on matters beyond your level.
In summary, you can always remain relevant if you are able to master these seven keys.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

Do You Want to be Relevant (2)

We this series yesterday and discussed Skills, Relationships and Attitudes as necessary tools for relevance. Today we will examine two more tools.

4. Excellent Problem Solving Ability: What you know and how it relates with the matter at hand can only be of help to the extent that you can combine the two to proffer better solutions. Relevant people are problem solvers. They have the knacks for delivering on expectations. If you want to become relevant or stay relevant, you must be a consistent problem solver.
5. Rich network: Who you know and the worth of who you know. Your network actually determine your networth. Your contacts can determine the kind of attention you get as as an employee. You therefore need to maintain your line of contact with your contacts.

God bless us all.

Do You Want to be Relevant? (1)

Have you wondered why some names are always mentioned when certain topics or challenges are being discussed? Or bringing it closer home, why do some colleagues attract more attention than others? Or in your neighborhood, why do some neighbours get invited to Community Committees more than others? In a nut shell, why are some people more relevant than others?
What do we mean by Relevance? Relevance in this context means relation or connection or practical applicability to the matter at hand. It means being useful to the matter at hand.
How can you become relevant or more relevant?

1. Sharpen your skills: Be good at what you do. Don’t stay on the periphery of your field, dig deeper than others. Stay on the cutting edge by keeping yourself abreast of latest developments in your field. What you know must also be applicable to the situation at hand. Don’t just know, know what is needed.Nobody jokes with people who know their onions.

2. Work on your Interpersonal Relations Skills: You need people to recommend you even if you are a guru in your field. You have to cultivate a deliberate and purposeful relationship management skill. Maintain contacts with your acquaintances. Exchange ideas with them. Reach out to them on personal basis. Connect with them. Don’t be a snub. Be friendly. It is true that your works will speak for you, but people will enunciate the sound of your works.

3. Have the right attitude: It is often said that your attitude determines your altitude. A good attitude is like a magnet, it will always attract people into your life. No matter how good you are at your job, if you have a bad attitude, you will be treated like an outcast. Be positive minded. Be courteous. Be an inspiration to others. Don’t lord yourself on people. Don’t be a bully. Be willing to teach others. Attitude is the separator of the best from the best.

We will continue on this series tomorrow.

God bless us all.

Letting Go

We often find ourselves holding on to certain things from our past. It could be relationship gone sour, memory of deceased loved ones, lost opportunities, past mistakes, and other bad experiences. These experiences tie us down and prevent us from seeing new opportunities before and ahead of us.
We must learn to let go of the past in order to take hold of the present and prepare for the future. You can’t be driving a car and keep looking back, you will suffer an accident sooner or later. If you want to reach your goal, you must learn to let go of the past even when it seems the past holds the best for you. The best is still ahead of you.
Until you let go, you may not be able to see what lies ahead and you will be missing out on a lot of opportunities. Whatever it is that you are still holding on to in your past which has constituted a poison in your system, you need to let go today. Forgive that person. Forget that relationship. Wipe the memory of that loss away. Begin again.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

Down But Not Out

At Wembley Stadium in a non-title fight in 1963, British Heavyweight boxer Henry Cooper hit Muhammad Ali with a left hook that saw Ali crashing down to the canvas,  save for the ring ropes he would have crashed headfirst onto the canvas. Ali was knocked down. However by a stroke of miracle, Ali recovered and eventually won the bout by a technical knock.
In 1971, in a bout that has been tagged ‘The Fight of the Century’, Joe  Frazier (Smoking Joe) defeated Ali in a unanimous decision after 15 rounds. Ali came back in 1974 to defeat Frazier in a non-title bout and in Manilla in 1975 to regain the world title from Frazier at round 14, in a bout later tagged ‘Thriller in Manilla’.
You may have been knocked down by life, but you don’t have to accept a knock-out. As long as there is still breath in you, you can fight again. Get back into the ring of life and give the enemy some serious thrashing. Winners are made from the materials of failures, so don’t see failure as the end of your life or career.
Give it another try again and again until you win. You are down but not out. You are only out when you stay down. So don’t stay down. You will have the last laugh.
God bless us all.
Good morning!

Who Has Your Log In Details?

Today’s world is driven by technology, this is why it is called the Digital Age, the age of information technology. Most of the things that used to take months or years in those days now take seconds or minutes to be done. We no longer use postal system to send our letters, we now use emails. We no longer use phone booths and cards to make those long distance calls, we use WhatsApp or Imo and others. It is truly a digital world.
Due to the plethora of digital media, we have personalised accounts like our emails, Facebook profiles, Google accounts and so on. Each of these has log in details that are known to only the users and cannot be accessed by others. This is moreso because we keep private information on most of these accounts, so we guard our log in details jealously. When someone hacks into your Facebook account, you feel like your privacy has been intruded into.
In the same vein, we should have log in details into our lives. Not everyone should be given access into your life. You can’t share your life’s log in details with just anybody, otherwise you will hear your life story where you don’t like. Don’t trust just anyone with your life’s secret, many will use what they know about you today against you tomorrow. Be very selective when it comes to choosing your confidants and keep the circle small. The bigger the circle, the less secure your privacy. Remember secured and unsecured sites (https and http respectively), is your life https or http?
God bless us all.
Good morning!

Believe Your Dream

Many forces will come at you to make you discard or jettison your dream. The force of reality will attack your faith in your dream. If your faith in your dream is not strong enough, you will accept reality.
Unknowingly to many people, every reality is a product of faith. We experience in reality what we believe most in our mind. If you hold onto your dream long enough, it will soon become reality.
People who have either lost their dreams or have no dreams will dissuade you to stop dreaming. They will tell you one thousand and one reasons why you should stop dreaming. You should know that if they were so smart they won’t be that unoccupied to be bothered about someone’s dream.
Your inner fears will attack your dreams like a flood. Your best choice is to allow your dream to lead you rather than acting out of fear. “Following your dreams is better than being led by your fears.” –  Matshona Dhliwayo
Don’t stop believing your dreams. Take steps no matter how tiny, towards your dream everyday. Soon enough, your dream will become your reality if you faint not.
God bless us all.
Good morning!
