Appreciate Your Own Glory

There is the Glory of the Sun, there is the Glory of the Moon, and there is the Glory of the Stars. These are all different Glories, yet they are all Glories. The Moon cannot perform the work of the Sun. The grace of the Moon is to provide light at night and would lose its importance or relevance during the day. Likewise the Sun, it will be an anomaly for the Sun to come out at night. It will hurt nature. The moon cannot provide the kind of illumination the stars provide at night. They are beautiful in their splendor. None is greater than the other, but they each function most in their time and space.

You have your own Glory too. You have your grace. God gives us grace as He wills and according to our different abilities, so there is no need to envy the Glory or Grace of another. You don’t need to struggle with another person to shine. You will shine in your own space. The Sun doesn’t struggle to shine. It rises gracefully everyday and there is no contention over its effectiveness. Once you find your space, you begin to function with ease and great effectiveness. Your Space is where your grace flows with ease. Your Space is your Calling. Find it.

Therefore, instead of envying the Glory of others, appreciate your own grace and build up on your grace. Sooner than later, your Glory will be seen by all. There is no one created without grace. The problem is we function out of our grace. Who is poor? He is poor who is ignorant of his Grace or who fails to utilize his Grace. May you find your Grace.

God bless us all.

The Choice is Yours

You are the major determinant of what you will become in life. Whether you are from a rich or poor background, whether you have strong or weak support, whether you are educated or not, the choice of who you become is yours. You have that veto power to decide who you will become in life. It is not your circumstance, condition, situation, location, but your choice that determines your destination. There is a lion in each one of us, but it requires a decision backed up with action to rouse that lion.

It is not what happens to you that determines who you will be, it is what happens in you. As a man thinks, so he is. If you choose to be great, you will be great. If you choose to be poor, you will be just that. The power to shape our lives has been vested in us by the Almighty. He commanded us to be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue and have dominion. He is not unaware of debilitating factors that we will encounter, but He has given us an inherent power to overcome every limitation through the power of our choice.

If you are nowhere near your desired goal today, it is because you have chosen to believe all the excuses that you have allowed to hinder you. Nothing can limit a determined person except God, and He won’t limit you in your pursuit of greatness. In the Biblical tower of Babel, God made a heavy statement in Gen. 11:6, ‘… behold the people is one, and they have all one language ; and this they begin to do, and now nothing shall be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.’ Powerful statement! In other words, you alone can hinder yourself by your choice and of your choice.

Charlotte Bronte (author of Jane Eyre) said, ‘I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.’ Nothing can ensnare a man who has decided to be great. Nothing can hurt a man who knows where he is going. ‘You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world…but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices.’  –  John Green

Your greatest limitation is you. You can be your own best friend or your worst enemy! The Choice is really Yours!

God bless us all.

Who Are Your Friends?

You become like those you associate with. A sheep that walks with the dog will eventually eat dungs. Your life is a reflection of two things, your thoughts and your friends or associates. You are a median of the group of friends you keep. If you keep intelligent people as friends, you will be intelligent. If you keep riff-raffs as friends, you can’t be better than a riff-raff. Don’t be deceived, your friends make you. Even if you are from a noble background, you can lose your nobility by the type of associations you keep. “A king’s son is no nobler than his company.” –  Gaelic Proverb.

The choice of one’s friends is not something you take lightly. You must consciously build your association. If you want to be rich, associate yourself with the rich. I am not teaching you to disdain or despise people of low status. Your duty to them is to help them rise up, not to make them your advisers. The kind of advice, inspirations and dreams you have are oftentimes drawn from the associations you keep. So if you want to dream big, you have got to relate with big dreamers and people who have already done similar things. This is not pride, it is wisdom.

There is a need for you to begin a conscious review of your association with a view to sifting and repositioning yourself. Pigs enjoy staying in the mud, so if you keep a sheep with the pigs, they will drag her into the mud. Breed a dog with cubs of lion and you will be surprised that the dog will grow up as a lion dog. Changing your association is one way of changing your life. “Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation. It is better be alone than in bad company.” –  George Washington

Find a role model among those who have achieved what you are dreaming of and learn from him or her. Read about great people. Small minds talk about things or people, while great minds make things happen. Leave the company of those who talk about things or people and join the company of those who make things happen.

God bless us all.

Keep Your Words

How reliable are your words? Can people take your word to bank? When you promise, can people take it as done or with a pinch of salt? You are as strong as your promises. A man who does it as he says it, is a man of integrity. Show me a strong man and I will show you a man whose word is a bond. Stephen Richard said ‘Promises are only as strong as the person who gives them.’ Be a promise keeper. Be a strong man.

One of the most important accounts you can draw from, especially in times of trouble is your integrity. Your integrity is derived from your past record of keeping your words or promises. Do you have any integrity? Your integrity creates a Trust Account. It can be in Surplus or Deficit. If you have integrity, you will have Trust Surplus. It is this Trust Surplus that gives you access to help, funds, and resources that others may not have access to, or for which they must pay great prices to access. So don’t joke with your promises. Not keeping your words can lead to Trust Deficit.

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble, is like a broken tooth and a foot out of joint. (Proverbs 25:19). People don’t rely on promise breakers or covenant breakers. If people can’t rely on you, you would be denied a lot of opportunities in life. You are the one suffering most from your habit of breaking promises. Trust deficit does more harm to you than others. So if you think you are being smart by breaking promises, you are only killing yourself bit by bit.

Knowing that promises are meant to be kept, you may want to be careful before making them. ‘Don’t make promises you can’t keep’ says Elizabeth Hoyt. Don’t force promises out of people too, you are only setting them up for Trust Deficit. One of our problems today is that we vote our leaders to power based on the number of promises they can make, without considering their abilities to keep those promises. We have too many leaders running on Trust Deficit. That is why, even when they have good intentions, they are misunderstood and resisted.

Be careful of people who make too many promises. They will break your heart. ‘Liars make the best promises.’ – Pierce Brown. Only say what you can do and leave the people to make their judgement. If you can’t keep your promise, provide reasons why you can’t. Don’t leave people to guess. Be a promise keeper! Keep your words!

God bless us all.

Build With Your Words

Words are powerful. Every spoken word has within it the power to bring it to reality. Just as the Word became flesh in the beginning, so does every word we speak,  eventually they become reality. John 1:14. “Because even the smallest of words can be the ones to hurt you, or save you.”  –  Natsuki Takaya

Where you are today could be a product of your past utterances. If you keep spilling out negativities about your life, it will only create negative energy around you and drag you down. If you release positive words around you, that is what will manifest in your life. Don’t be deceived, and let no science or logic deceive you, our world is more spiritual than physical. The words you speak are spirits. Where you find people always saying, ‘Yes we can’, you will always find great accomplishments. And where you have people always confessing their inabilities, they won’t have much to show.

Particularly, in our nation today, if there is anything we need more than ever, it is positive confession about our dear country. Yes, in reality, we may have an unpleasant situation, but let us use the power of our words to strengthen the hands of our leaders and bring the nation out of the present situation. Individually, let us avoid negative words about ourselves or others or the nation or even the world. Let us saturate the atmosphere with positive energy with our words. Our words can shape our world, either positively or negatively. We are the architects of our life, and it starts with our words.

As you wake up every morning, release blessings upon your life, neighborhood and the nation. Send your words on errand. As you speak in the ears of the Almighty, so will He do. Numbers 14 :28. Yours words are spirits and they are alive. Don’t toy around with negative words again!

God bless us all.

It Is Not Too Late

In 2008, Joanne Guidoccio retired from teaching Mathematics after 31 years of teaching to pursue her dream of writing. Most of her colleagues, friends and everyone taught she was crazy. Today she has written a novel, published several articles in newspapers, magazines and online. She spent 31 years living another life and was able to switch to a new life after. Who says you can’t have a career switch?

Friends, it is not too late to pursue whatever dream you have. You may have truly lost time, but time is a continuum and there is still enough of it left to fulfill your heart desires. It is not too late to start a new career. It is not too late to start a new relationship. It is not too late to run for that political position. Every dream carries within it the required energy and drive for its fulfillment. Once the dream is conceived and the pursuit commenced, you will find things gradually falling into places. Don’t give up on yourself, it is not too late.

It is better and nobler to die trying rather than carrying the regret of not trying to your grave. The greatest risk in life is to risk nothing. If there is a risk everyone must take, it is the risk of True Living, which is to find and live out your dream. I would rather die in the pursuit of my dream than stay alive in the safety of someone else’s dream. You must not be limited by age, time or circumstances. You are neither too young nor too old to pursue your dream. Jesus started teaching at 12 and started his ministry at 30! Moses started leading Israel at 80!

You are inexcusable friend. Go find your place in life. Live your dream regardless of your age.

God bless us all.

Be Prepared

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin. Preparation is halfway to success. God took five days to prepare the earth before creating man. He recognized the need to prepare. Preparation is very key to success. What we call luck or lucky break is the meeting of preparation with opportunity. Oprah Winfrey said ‘I believe luck is preparation meeting opportunity. If you hadn’t been prepared when the opportunity came along, you wouldn’t have been lucky.’

We often complain that life is not fair to us, not knowing that God is only waiting for us to be prepared before bringing the opportunity we seek across our ways. If you have not successful master how to manage yourself, why are you looking for additional person to manage in form of husband or wife? Are you truly prepared for marriage? You are trying to raise capital to start your business, yet you can’t manage your personal finance well yet! Why add to the number of failed marriages or businesses?

The truth is a lot of us are either ill-prepared or completely unprepared for the success we seek. We need to spend more time learning what it takes to handle whatever we want. Read more about it. Ask people who are already successful in it. Develop your character to fit that position. Cultivate the discipline and commitment required. Don’t just sit there and mope about life not being fair, you are the one who is not fair! Be prepared!

When you are prepared it will happen, that is how life works. The Author of life doesn’t waste His resources. He gives much to him who is mostly prepared. Abraham Lincoln said ‘I will prepare and some day my chance will come.’ He kept preparing himself for the White House despite several failures. He kept working at it until his opportunity came. His speech at Gettysburg remains one of the best speeches ever made. He remains one of the most influential Presidents of the United States till date.

There is no worse disaster as ill prepared leaders. There is no bad luck worse than an unprepared person managing people or resources. So get your nose into sniffing out information relevant for your aspiration. Nothing kills more than ignorance. Get yourself informed. Read. Study. Exercise your mind and body. Drop those bad habits. Sharpen your skills. It is all in your hands, so be prepared.

God bless us all.

Where Are You Going?

As you step out for work or business today, it is important that you start ruminating on the question ‘Where Are You Going?’This is not about your office or business location. It is not about your destination today. This is about your life or business purpose. This is about the core of your existence, the reason why you are here and the value you are to add to life either as an individual or a business. Do you know why you are here?

Sadly, millions of people all over the world are living in ignorance of where they are going. Problems are products of people’s ignorance of their purposes. Society and systems failures are fallouts of the absence of Purpose driven individuals in places of Purpose. “The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” – Fyodor Dostoyevsky. If you don’t know where you are going you are not living, even though you are alive. You are not to accept job or business offers mainly because of the pay or profit. Your purpose determines your choice of jobs, businesses and even associations. The challenge today is that we allow our jobs, businesses and associations to determine our purposes. It is a great anomaly!

Life means Living In Full Existence. You can only live in full existence if you know where you are going and you are working towards it. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. You cannot live until you start living. You start living when you are in pursuit of your purpose.

In Chemistry, ‘matter’ is defined as ‘anything that has weight and occupy space.’ You can only matter in life if your life carries weight. Weight is a function of value added and you can only add true value when you are on the right destination. Do you matter in life? Does your life carry weight? It is not in how wealthy you are, it is about how worthy you are. If life is all about wealth, we have enough wealth in the world to have a perfect world. Life is about finding and fulfilling purpose. The more people we have fulfilling purpose, the better the world will be.

If you don’t know the purpose of a thing, you will likely abuse it. Many of us are victims of self abuse because we don’t know our purposes. Self abuse is the foundation for every kind of abuse. The moment you find your True Self, no one can keep you down again. There is an indescribable burst of positive energy and joy that comes with knowing where you are going. This is why people of Purpose are naturally influential and impactful. They carry so much energy such that anyone or anything in their path will naturally be touched by that energy. Don’t live an empty life.

So, this weekend is a good opportunity to think deeply on where you are going. Don’t just be busy, be purpose driven! If you already know where you are going, then I will say congratulations to you. But you can help others to find their destinations too. That way, our world will be richer, safer, better and simpler!

God bless us all.

Build Your Support System

It is not good for man to be alone. Gen. 2:18. Woe betides that person who has no helper when he is down. Ecc. 4:10. Loneliness is dangerous. In those days, when hunters want to kill a lion, what they used to do is to isolate one from the pack, because they know it is suicidal to face a pride of lions. Same with human beings, enemies can penetrate easily when you are alone. Life’s challenges become easier to deal with when you have helpers around you. Your helpers form your support system.

You must consciously build and nurture your support system. If you don’t have a support system, you are as good as food for the lion. Your support system can be made up of friends, relatives, colleagues, bosses and religious leaders. You cannot build a support system if you don’t have good relationship management skill or good interpersonal skills. It starts with being helpful to others. Assisting people when they need help. Being good on your job helps to win the hearts of your colleagues and supervisors, and takes your relationship with them beyond official. Nurture your relationship with your spouse. Don’t have an enemy within, you are a dead duck if you do.

Life operates on the principle of sowing and reaping. If you sow help, you will reap help. If you sow kindness, you will reap kindness. If you sow cruelty that is what you will reap. So, you need to start reviewing what you are sowing. Don’t be a loner. Reach out to people. No matter how rich or strong you are, you will need help at some point. Don’t let pride blind you from building your support system. What you may need may not be money, it may be something ordinary which you don’t have. So don’t disdain people in building your support system. In times of trouble, what will determine whether people will respond to your distress call is how you relate with them in normal time.

It is true that God is the True Helper and the only reliable one, but He will still use people to help you.  So acknowledge God in all your ways and love your neighbors as yourself. Ask yourself these questions ‘do I have a support system?’ and ‘how strong is my support system?’ Answer those questions objectively and take necessary actions as relevant. May you not be stranded in life. Be conscious of your support system and take time to continually nurture it.

God bless us all.

Separate Your Seed from Your Bread

Life is in seasons. In the natural, we have two main seasons, the raining season and the dry season. Usually farmers plant their seeds at the beginning of the raining season so that the rains can water it and make it bud. Harvest is done towards the end of the raining season and into the beginning of the dry season. So what is harvested during the dry season becomes both the food for the dry and raining season, as well as seed to sow at the start of the next raining season.

This cycle is most instructive for us in our individual lives, businesses or national live.  Our harvest represents our incomes, profits and economic booms. Not all of these are to be spent on consumption (eaten as bread), God places the seed portion in every harvest we make. It is that seed portion that guarantees continuity of harvest. If you eat your seed with your bread, you will experience famine in the next season. Please note this, your seed should be your first priority from every harvest. Set it aside before you consume the rest. It is important that we understand this principle in order to avoid unnecessary hardship in life. Seed time and harvest will never end as long as the earth remains. So woe unto that man who has no seed during planting time.

Life obeys spiritual principles whether you like it or not, or whether you believe it or not. What you give to life will come back to you in multiple fold. Plant a grain of wheat and you will harvest sheaves of wheat. Plant a grain of corn, and you will harvest cobs of corn. It is a universal law and endures all times and ages. So the earlier you adhere to this principle the better.

Your seed is the source of your tithe, offering to God and to the less privileged, your savings or investment and your business capital. These are the various uses to which you can put your seed. If you constantly practice the art of seeding, you are guaranteed a lifetime of harvest. The size of your harvest is determined by the size of your seed. If you want a bigger harvest, sow a bigger seed. If you plant on a plot of land, you cannot expect the same harvest with someone who planted on an acre of land, all other things being equal. So seed and harvest are directly proportional.

It is equally important that you tend your garden after sowing your seed lest weeds overtake the garden. Pay attention to your business. Pay attention to your career. Pay attention to your source of income. Don’t be careless with your seed.

Be seed conscious if you want to be harvestful. Stop eating all your income no matter how big or small it is. There is a seed in every income. One of our problems as a nation today is that we already consumed the seed that would have yielded the harvest we need today. May God give us leaders who understand the principle of seeding and who are seed conscious. Amen.

God bless us all.
