Be Thankful

Do you know that the situation you consider pathetic, undesirable, pitiable, undeserving, and unimpressive, is the prayer request of another person? While you are grumbling that you need to change your two year old vehicle for a brand new, someone who is driving a fairly used (Tokunbo) vehicle is praying to have a car like yours. While you are complaining that your vehicle’s air conditioning system is no longer working, somebody is praying to God for just any car, even without A/c. While you are mumbling about your one bedroom that has become uncomfortable for you and your family, a family is praying to have a place like yours instead of being scattered around with relatives.

If you truly know how to think, you will know how to thank God. You need to cultivate a grateful heart. God is good, all of the time. He is good to you even when the going is tough. He is good to you always. Always be grateful, because it could have been worse. You could have been dead. You could have been crippled. You could have been fired instead of the pay cut you suffered. It really could have been worse. But for His mercies, your situation could have been worse. Psalms 107:1, 118:1.

While we should desire change of situation for the better, let us do so with a grateful heart. When you thank Him for what He has done, He will do more. Don’t be an ingrate. Stop entering His Presence with your complaint. His Presence is not a Police Station where you go to file complaints. Enter His Gate with thanksgiving and His Court with praise. Psalm 100:4. As you do so consistently, something will give way and your level will change for the better. This is laid heavily on my heart today, that we should cultivate a grateful heart over our lives, homes, even nation and our change will come soon. We will smile at last!

God bless us all.

The Voices that Affect Your Life

There are certain voices that have great impact on one’s life. These voices either limit your dreams or push you to fulfilling your dreams. They are called the Voices Within and the Voices Without.

The Voices Within are in two forms, the voice of reason and the voice of instinct. Your voice of reason works based on logic and it is closely linked to the natural mind. It tells you reasons why it is foolish to pursue your goals because you don’t have all that is required. It is based on pure logic. If 1+2=3, then it will be foolhardy to expect 1+2 to be equal to 5, but based on the voice of instinct 1+2 can be equal to 5. The voice of instinct receives directly from the spirit of God (Holy Spirit) and often times defies logic and natural tendencies. 1 Cor. 1:26-29. It works based on revelation and not on logic. The more you listen to this voice the more likely you are to fulfill your dreams. On the contrary, the more you follow the voice of reason, the more likely you are to live an ordinary life.

In addition, the Voices Without are two namely, Voice of People and your Personal Voice. People’s Voice will tell you why you can’t do it and the level of risk involved. They will paralyze you with analysis and you will end up confused when you pay too much attention to People’s Voice, especially when your Personal Voice is in sync with the Voice of Instinct. The rule of thumb is to match the voice of instinct with your Personal Voice. Once you achieve that, go for your dream, regardless of what other voices are saying. Remember, it is your life and you alone will give account of it!

God bless us all.

When Darkness Becomes Our Light

There are times in our lives when darkness seems to be our light. Times when the challenges are overwhelming and unending. Times when we think it can’t get worse than this and suddenly it truly gets worse than the initial worse. Many of us have gone through such times, some are going through such times now, our nation is passing through such a phase. Literally, darkness has become our light as a nation. No power. No fuel to generate power by yourself. No money in circulation. Job cuts everywhere. It is just darkness all around.

It is important to know that every event and season has a life cycle. There is an end to every darkness. Surely there is an end. Proverbs 23:18. It will pass and you will emerge stronger and better. Among all the options available at such times, there is one which must not even be considered at all, that is the option of giving up. If you faint in the days of adversity, your strength is small. Proverbs 24:10. Never Give Up!

Why do we go through such times? Sometimes we cause it through our actions, decisions or inactions, but God is still faithful to take you through. Sometimes it is part of God’s plan for us. No Red Sea, No Canaan. The pathway to the throne is ladened with many throes. It is designed to test us, prepare us, cook us and build us for our divine assignment. So stay put and let Him take you through. Isaiah 50:10.

God bless us all.

13 Ways to Find Out A Fool

1. A fool is one who has conclusions before he has gathered all of the information.

2. A fool is one who is comfortable with you when you are at your worst. You will do well to avoid such a man that is at peace with the weakness within you.

3. A fool is one who causes your doubts and fears to strengthen and your faith to wane.

4. A fool is one who responds with hate when he is rebuked.

5. A fool is one who despises the instruction and exhortation of a proven teacher of wisdom.

6. A fool is one who utters slander.

7. A fool is a child who disregards the words of his father. If a child, whether he is young or old, cannot honor the parents who have given him sustenance and shelter for years, there is no hope for such child indeed.

8. A fool is one who uses anger and rage to threaten and manipulate others.

9. A fool is one who believes that they do no wrong, for the sons of men are full of pride and haughtiness.

10. A fool is one who shares his offence to other men around him.

11. A fool is one who refuses to keep the vows his lips have uttered.

12. A fool is one who meddles in the affairs of others.

13. A fool is one who will envy the prosperity of you rather than seeking to learn how it was attained.

Watch and Pray

“Watch and Pray” were very words of Jesus Christ to his disciples. (Mathew 26:41). Christians, especially in Nigeria are quick to quote this at the slightest opportunity to counsel or preach. Though it was given in the context of watching and praying against temptation but it applies to every aspect of our lives. However we seem to have over-emphasized one of the two instructions at a great expense of the other. We have all become ‘prayer warriors’ and expect every thing to fall into place just by Praying.

We have failed to recognize the deliberate arrangement or prioritization of the two words. He said “Watch” first and then “Pray”. I believe if we do the first very well you will likely do less of the second. However, we have all either consciously or unconsciously left the first only to concentrate on the second. Little wonder we don’t get results. It has gotten so bad that even public officials instead of accepting responsibility for failure in the discharge of their public duties, turn to prayers and ask for prayers. Should you not ask for prayer as a leader? Yes, you should. But you do not have such a right if you are not watching as a leader. We can’t progress as a nation or a society if we continue with this trend. I quite agree with the crux of the write up by Sabella Abidde in the link below: http://www.punchng.com/opinion/viewpoint/fifty-four-billion-prayers-and-counting/

It is time we accepted responsibility for our destiny and stop believing that everything will be solved by just praying. We need to start using our thinking cap without underplaying the role of God in the affairs of men. God will not do what He has ordained men to do and man cannot do what only God can do. God is responsible for the supernatural and He has delegated responsibilities for the natural to men. It is time for us to be responsible.

Watching means planning, preparing, strategizing, being on the look out, focusing, taking actions, etc. The watching aspect is the part that has been delegated to men. When we watch, then God can heed our prayers and act. So if you want a better nation, it is time to start acting. Make your choices wisely. Don’t just act with flimsiness. Don’t be rash. He that believes shall not make haste. Isaiah 28:16.

Our future is in our hands. It is time to wake up and chart the course of your life by watching and praying.
