Ask yourself: Will this cause of disagreement matter in the next few moments or days?

Up Close and Personal – 09072025

Still on the subject of appreciating those who have impacted our lives in immeasurable ways, I want to acknowledge two more people today.

The first is my uncle, Mr. Funsho Ikotun (FCA), who sponsored my registration as a student member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) at a time when I didn’t even understand the value it would bring me later. I am truly grateful, Sir, for being a model and source of inspiration to me.

The next person is a friend from my undergraduate days. It was during my second year at OAU when I got allocated a shared room in Awo Hall, but I had no mattress to sleep on. I think I spent my first night on the bare string bed, those stringed beds from back in the day.

Olakunle Akinsola visited the next day, and when he heard how I had slept, he more or less insisted that I come stay with him in Staff Quarters, Road 20b. That was how I began squatting with him. Kunlexy, thank you for being a true friend then, and for still being one, despite the geographical distance between us today.

Like I said last week, let’s be intentional about remembering those who have impacted our lives and dedicate this month to reaching out to them.

Enjoy your day and the rest of your week!

Don’t just be matter (anything that has weight and occupies space); make sure you truly matter in the scheme of things.

Those who make indelible marks don’t pay attention to the noise in the market, focus on what you’re doing.

Up Close and Personal – 02072025

In our journey through life, we encounter certain individuals who touch our lives in an indelible way.

Today, I remember two such people in my journey, and I’ll be dedicating this post to them. The rest of the month will be dedicated to celebrating others who have impacted my life in similar ways.

The first person I want to celebrate today is my Secondary School English teacher in my final year, Mrs. Ogedengbe. I recall that my handwriting was quite terrible back then (some still say I write like a medical doctor though ). When she started teaching us English Language and found it difficult to read my handwriting in my notebook, she began devoting special attention to helping me improve. Her support made a tremendous difference. Thank you, ma, for your labour of love.

The second person also taught me English Language. At the time, I was struggling to get the minimum C6 (Credit) required in WAEC to gain admission. She would tutor me and my late younger brother every other evening, free of charge. We both eventually passed English Language in WAEC. Without her support, I may not have been able to proceed to OAU to study Accounting when I did. Her name is Mrs. Ogunfolabi. I am forever grateful, ma. God bless you richly.

Let’s be more intentional about remembering those who have impacted our lives, and let’s dedicate this month to reaching out to them.

Enjoy your day and the rest of the week!
