Up Close and Personal – 29052024

Sometimes, I look back and reflect on how time seems to have flown past like a bird. I still remember growing up with my siblings and friends, and it all seemed like yesterday, but we have all become adults dealing with some of the issues our parents dealt with.

Beside ‘adulting’, some things that were strange to me in those younger days now seem attractive. For instance, I used to wonder why someone will serve me “Eko” (made from boiled grounded maize) with “efo riro” (vegetable soup), but now it appeals to me more than anything for dinner, especially for late dinner. I still love Suya, but wondering how long that will last for.

My propensity to consume fizzy drinks has also reduced drastically, as it doesn’t appeal to me any longer. Meanwhile, those days we craved those things like our life depends on them.
So my point is, age changes a lot of things, both material and immaterial things, as you age, you become wiser, more patient, temperate and modest. I am sure this resonates with many of the older folks.

By the way, I am not super old, I am still a young adult, or maybe tending towards middle age, so that some of you do not start treating me like a grandpa😁.

How has ageing changed you? Please share your experience in the comment section.

Cheers, and have a great day.
